Exaggerated Associations

sheilaPeter and Sheila Roesler came out for a walking tour through UCLife’s Farm on March 19, 2016. Sheila liked the plethora of perennial herbs that live in the raised beds for educational purposes. I pinched at their fragrant leaves and chewed as I passed through, and so I decided to drill her. Not just her, but anybody who passes through UCLife @God’s Farm.

I’m digging for Sheila’s health nuggets, after all, she’s a traveling health teacher of 20+years. I asked Sheila what motivated her to share her health knowledge. She started by saying, “I fell in love with Jesus more every day, and I want to tell others of Him, I believe the gospel of health + the gospel of Jesus go together.” Then she finished by saying, “My mom was a health nut. She cut three lawns in one day. She never had an operation, because of the healthy teas and tonics she took. I am from Barbados, where healthcare was free and all natural. My mother is very healthy and she is the legacy”

I told her I was looking for community health nurses/practitioners to teach our young farmers how to maximize mental performance, and I asked her to share her top health tips:

> no white sugar or high fructose corn syrup
> increase oxygen to the brain through deep breathing exercises
> hit the sack by 9:00, because the growing body is full of good hormones that peak between 9:00 pm – 2:00 am
> learning is optimal first thing in the morning
> memorize stories through exaggerated associations, like John 20 (2 for the 2 angels, and 0 for the t-0-mb)

Her top tips for me:
> grapes are the most healing, sun ripened fruit
> add petroleum jelly + iodine to swellings
> tumeric spice is 800x more effective when added with 1/4 tsp oil taken orally
