Urban Community Life (UCLife) began with an idea born in faith. Plant the simple seeds of service, community, agriculture, health and education in the lives of urban youth and see what will grow. Those seeds produced 2020 vision – a center of influence that inspires and equips generations of urban youth & families to become the spiritual and agricultural servants for their communities. But vision that has not been tested makes for weak faith. This year has been a year of testing. Without a dedicated farm, home or program site to host our summer program, and the absolute necessity to stay connected with our young people, our faith and creativity were challenged to push ahead in the dark and the light. Solution? An epic road trip with our most committed participants! If you can make it in a van nine weeks with a bunch of rowdy, 10-14 year old boys, mix in a generous helping of sleep deprivation, prepare 168 meals, and drive over 4,000 miles, your faith will either strengthen…or you’ll never dream again.
There is something positive about persistence – being part of a great, significant movement for God and the families we serve. We have witnessed the miracles of God, and growing into 2020, UCLife has been given our biggest opportunity to deepen our faith roots yet. We have purchased property for the future home of UCLife Organic Farm & Urban Youth Agricultural Training Center atop Lookout Mountain, Mentone Alabama. This provision will allow UCLife to continue our growth trajectory, providing a central location for permanent impact, and moving toward our vision for decades of urban family transformation. Our dream for a safe haven is getting close to reality. Dig in, sharpen your faith shovels, and join us as God unveils a sanctuary in every community, home and heart.
